Hollywood, Mon Amour

Hollywood, Mon Amour is the latest album of Marc Collin, the man behind the famed Nouvelle Vague. The CD contains movie themes of the 80s sung by artists like Cibelle, Yael Naim and Juliette Lewis. The project may have sound interesting, but the reality is not that great.

My diagnosis is that the album is just too monotonous - it's very difficult to listen to the entire thing in just one sitting. Having said that, some songs are really good, like a ballad-remake of Flashdance...What A Feeling by Yael Naim or Skye Edwards' version of Blondies' Call Me.

To sum up, I believe the album would be better without several tracks and the approach was to defensive, but the album does contains several good songs and might be a nice addition to your CD collection.
